[CMake] Should CMake Ask to Overwrite 'CMakeLists.txt' After It's Been Updated?

Hello, fellow subscribers,
As described here <http://www.cmake.org/Bug/view.php?id=15324>, CMake doesn’t seem to be able to regenerate projects generated by older versions of itself. I’ve read that this might be due to the fact that encountering copies of ‘CMakeLists.txt’ tends to crash CMake. If this is the case, then shouldn’t CMake have some way of dealing with this when it comes across it? Could CMake update or overwrite ‘CMakeLists.txt’ if it couldn’t use the copy it finds in a project?
Curious,
Bryce Glover
