Look how what's on the main page (premake.sf.net):

"After several years of maintaining backward compatibility Or Else, I've
decided it is time to make a break. And if I'm going to break
compatibility I might as well go all the way and make all of the changes
I've been saving up over those years."


They are developing version 4.0, guess it's never too late for big
changes...
