[CMake] finding if feature is supported by host

Hi Vania.

A quick look a CMake docs will show you CMake's try_compile() command:
https://cmake.org/cmake/help/latest/command/try_compile.html
(There is also a try_run(), if required).

I believe that's precisely what you want.
