[CMake] set_target_properties not setting COMPILE_DEFINITIONS?

No, the semicolons are removed by message() itself, you'll still see
them if you enclose the ${} inside the quotes:

message( "DEFS: ${MAIN_BUILD_DEFINITIONS}" )
