Using CVS from Dec 15, 2007:

540:[mjackson at Thor:Build]$ bin/cmake --help-variable  
"CMAKE_<LANG>_LINK_EXECUTABLE"                cmake version 2.5-20071215
Argument "CMAKE_<LANG>_LINK_EXECUTABLE" to --help-variable is not a  
defined variable.  Use --help-variable-list to see all defined  
variables.

but if I do a bin/cmake --help-variable-list that variable DOES  
appear in the list at around line 111.
