I think so too. I'm sure if you add two or three, there will be somebody proclaiming that just another very important variable absolutely needs the shortcut.
A way to make this adjustable would help everybody I think.
(yes, typing -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/blah/foo) is sometimes a bit lot of work)
