Yes agreed.
I'd rather go for
CMAKE_INSTALL_DEFAULT_COMPONENT_NAME

or may be
CMAKE_INSTALL_UNSPECIFIED_COMPONENT_NAME

and in any case I agree with Brad concerning the CMAKE_INSTALL_ prefix.
