For me it's well over 800 pixels wide. I can't make it go any smaller than that.

On my system, I did a bit of experimentation in MS Paint and I think it would look perfectly fine at 500 pixels wide. I've attached a screenshot of what the inner-panel looks like on my machine. Notice how excessively wide it is. I can't make it thinner than that.

I do have some tips to help save some horizontal real estate. The text that reads "Press configure to update and display new values in red, then press Generate to generate selected build files" could easily be made multi-line. This would make it take up less width and allow the window's width to be sized smaller. You could also remove this text entirely and make it a balloon or popup text of some sort when the mouse hovers over the list of cache variables.

Secondly, the "Current Generator: Visual Studio 9 2008" text could be placed above or below the "Configure" and "Generate" buttons. This would allow the progress bar's left edge to be aligned next to the "Generate" button's right edge.
I just measured the minimum size of the outermost-frame cmake-gui window on Vista using Spy++ and it is 708 pixels wide by 363 pixels high.

It looks like we could maybe go about 50 or so pixels narrower before it starts to get ugly...

What would you recommend as a reasonable minimum size value?

On Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 1:01 PM, Robert Dailey <rcdailey@gmail.com> wrote:
This, for some reason, has changed the minimum size of the cmake-gui app. I'm currently using version 2.6.3. Can you guys remove the minimum size requirement on the cmake gui window? It's far too large right now and I am unable to make it smaller. Keep in mind that it is the horizontal size that is limited, not the vertical.
